Meeting with an
Attorney
Your initial
consultation with the attorney will serve somewhat as an
information gathering session. The consultation may last
anywhere from thirty minutes to an hour or more depending on
the circumstances of your case. During the course of the
meeting the attorney will want to hear everything that happened
with regard to your case. The attorney will ask questions and
take notes throughout the course of the
meeting.
The
following is a list of items that may be helpful to
bring:
For Personal
Injury
A copy of your
insurance policy if applicable
A list of
witnesses (names, addresses , phone
numbers)
Insurance
information of the defendant (policy number, name of insurance,
etc)
A list of
medical providers that you have seen, related to your
case
All
other documentation related to your
consultation
For Estate
Planning
A general idea
of the way you would like to divide your
estate
Names and
addresses of persons that you wish to leave your property
to
If you have
minor children then the names and addresses of persons you wish
to give guardianship to
The
names of the person or persons that you wish to name as
your executor (the person to carry out your
wishes)
Probate
The original
will of the deceased
Banking and
Financial information
Documents relating to property (deeds,
titles, etc)
For all other
matters
Bring all
documentation pretaining to your
meeting
Be
prepared to answer questions about the
matter
